The Early Childhood Center (ECC) Music and Drama Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences that foster creativity, self-expression, and a love for the performing arts in young learners. This role supports the holistic development of children through music, movement, storytelling, and dramatic play.Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, this role values the child as capable, curious, and full of potential, using the arts as a powerful medium for exploration, communication, and meaning-making.

  • Design and facilitate open-ended, inquiry-based experiences in music and drama that emerge from children's interests and curiosities.
  • Use music, movement, storytelling, and dramatic play as “languages” for children to express thinking and emotions.
  • Observe, listen, and document children’s learning processes, making thinking visible through pedagogical documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with ECC teachers to co-construct projects and integrate the arts into transdisciplinary learning.
  • Create a rich, inviting environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Support children in developing a sense of rhythm, expression, voice, and body awareness in a natural and meaningful way.
  • Encourage group experiences that foster relationships, communication, and social development.
  • Participate in reflective practices with the teaching team, contributing to ongoing curriculum development.
  • Engage families by sharing learning processes and involving them in the school community when appropriate.
  • Create and lead exhibitions, and performances as authentic extensions of children's learning.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Drama, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification/license (Licenciatura).
  • A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Advanced English proficiency for communication in an international school environment.
  • Ability to play one or more musical instruments and/or direct theatrical productions.
  • Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia philosophy or a strong interest in inquiry-based, child-centered approaches.
  • Experience demonstrating strong classroom management and communication skills in English.
  • Experience working with diverse, multicultural student populations.
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based, project-based, or international curricula.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and innovation in education.
