Middle School Psychology Intern

The International School of Curitiba (ISC) is seeking a motivated and passionate Psychology Intern to join our Middle School team. This is a unique opportunity for a university student to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, multicultural school environment while learning alongside experienced psychologists, counselors, educators, and other members of our student support team.
As a Middle School Psychology Intern, you will support initiatives related to student wellbeing, social-emotional development, and the overall student experience. You will have the opportunity to observe and learn about the different aspects of psychology within an educational setting, while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for Middle School students.
This internship is designed for students who are interested in school psychology, educational psychology, child and adolescent development, counseling, or student wellbeing and are looking to develop practical experience alongside their academic studies.
Please note that all ISC internships are mediated through CIEE, and candidates must have an active CIEE registration (cadastro ativo) in order to be considered.

  • Support the Middle School Psychology and Student Support teams in initiatives related to student wellbeing, social-emotional development, and student support.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of activities focused on social-emotional learning, self-awareness, communication, relationships, and wellbeing.
  • Observe student interactions and behaviors under the guidance of psychologists, counselors, and other qualified professionals, contributing to a better understanding of students' developmental and social-emotional needs.
  • Provide support during student activities, transitions, breaks, and other non-instructional times, helping promote a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
  • Assist with the preparation of materials, resources, presentations, and activities related to psychology, wellbeing, and student development.
  • Support psychologists and counselors with organizational and administrative tasks, including preparing documents, organizing resources, and maintaining confidential records as directed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, psychologists, and other multidisciplinary team members to support students' overall school experience.
  • Assist with school projects, events, and initiatives that promote student wellbeing, belonging, inclusion, and positive relationships.
  • Support the translation and adaptation of psychology- and wellbeing-related materials between English and Portuguese, when needed.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respect for student privacy when handling sensitive information.
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate Psychology (Psicologia) program.
  • Interest in school psychology, educational psychology, child and adolescent development, student wellbeing, or related areas.
  • Genuine interest in working with Middle School students and supporting their social-emotional development.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, active listening, discretion, and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with psychologists, counselors, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
  • Intermediate/Advanced English
  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents in educational, extracurricular, volunteer, or similar settings.
  • Interest or academic experience in child and adolescent psychology, social-emotional learning, counseling, or educational psychology.
