Elementary School Senior Learning Assistant (Steam Integrationist)

The Elementary School Senior Learning Assistant focusing on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Integrationist will be responsible for helping design, implement, and coordinate STEAM programs and activities for elementary school students. This role will involve collaborating with teachers, administrators, and external partners to integrate STEAM concepts across the curriculum and foster a culture of innovation and inquiry-based learning.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Curriculum Development Support:
  • Help design and develop STEAM curriculum materials, lesson plans, and resources aligned with grade-level standards and learning objectives.
  • Integrate interdisciplinary connections between STEAM subjects and other areas of the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt and differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • In consultation with leadership, engage in relevant external professional development experiences to deepen knowledge around STEAM content and best practices.

2. Instructional Support:
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to co-teach STEAM lessons and provide support in integrating technology and hands-on activities.
  • Model best practices in STEAM education, including inquiry-based learning, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
  • Collaborate with colleagues (leadership, coaches) to provide professional development sessions for teachers on STEAM pedagogy and resources.

3. Program Coordination/Support:
  • Organize and facilitate STEAM enrichment activities, clubs, and workshops for students outside of regular classroom instruction.
  • Coordinate with external organizations, industry partners, and experts to provide real-world STEAM experiences and mentorship opportunities.
  • Manage STEAM-related materials, equipment, and resources within the school.

  • Bachelor and/or licenciatura concluded (teaching license) in Pedagogy.

  • Proficiency in English and Portuguese (oral and written) is essential.
  • Ability to think flexibly and creatively (“think outside the box”)

  • Willingness to learn about current trends, pedagogy, and resources in STEAM education.

  • Willingness to learn about transdisciplinary learning in general and how to use Toddle to support instruction.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced learning environment.

  • Willingness to work with diverse student populations and implement inclusive practices.
