Dry Dock Manager

As Dry Dock Manager, you will be responsible for leading the planning, coordination and execution of all dry dockings, major maintenance projects, vessel upgrades and capital projects across the fleet. This position plays a strategic role in ensuring long-term reliability, availability and performance of the company's assets by delivering complex technical projects safely, efficiently, on schedule and within budget.
Working closely with Technical Managers, Vessel Superintendents, Procurement, Operations, Masters, Chief Engineers, Classification Societies, OEMs and Shipyards, you will oversee the complete lifecycle of major technical projects—from engineering and planning through execution, commissioning and project close-out—while continuously improving project management standards and technical excellence across the fleet.
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and reporting to the Technical Fleet Manager. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and the process will be closed when the right candidate is found, thus we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

As a Dry Dock Manager, you'll have the opportunity to lead some of the company's most critical technical projects, ensuring that our fleet remains safe, reliable and operationally efficient throughout its lifecycle.
In addition, this position will be responsible for:
  • Lead the planning and execution of all vessels dry dockings across the fleet.
  • Manage major maintenance projects, including propulsion overhauls, CPP systems, shaft line overhauls, azimuth thrusters, tunnel thrusters, steering gear, cranes, winches, engines, generators and other critical equipment.
  • Coordinate vessel modification, retrofit and life extension projects.
  • Develop technical specifications, work scopes, repair packages and technical documentation for shipyards.
  • Prepare project execution plans, schedules, milestones and critical paths.
  • Manage CAPEX projects from concept development through final delivery.
  • Prepare project budgets, cost estimates and financial forecasts while monitoring project expenditures and controlling cost variations.
  • Coordinate shipyard activities, contractors, OEM service engineers and third-party inspectors.
  • Manage technical interfaces with Classification Societies, Flag Administrations and regulatory authorities.
  • Evaluate technical proposals and support supplier selection processes.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with company HSEQ requirements throughout all project phases.
  • Capture lessons learned and continuously improve dry docking, project management processes and technical standards.
  • Develop and maintain company procedures, templates and best practices related to dry dockings and major projects.
  • Monitor project KPIs and prepare technical and financial reports for senior management.
  • Support long-term fleet lifecycle planning, asset integrity and reliability initiatives.

For this role, is necessary to:
  • Holds a bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience managing vessel dry dockings and major marine projects.
  • Have strong technical knowledge of marine propulsion systems, diesel engines, CPP systems, shaft lines, azimuth thrusters, tunnel thrusters, steering gear and auxiliary machinery.
  • Have experience coordinating projects with shipyards, OEMs and Classification Societies.
  • Have solid understanding of project management, CAPEX control and budgeting.
  • Have experience with project planning, scheduling and contractor management.
  • Be professional proficiency in English.
  • Be availability to travel frequently.
While not mandatory, the following qualifications will be considered an advantage and may help you succeed in this role:
  • Previous experience with Offshore Support Vessels (AHTS, PSV or similar).
  • Knowledge of ABS, DNV, BV or other major Classification Society requirements.
  • Familiarity with Planned Maintenance Systems such as AMOS, Star IPS or similar.
  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Experience managing vessel retrofits, life extension or fleet modernization projects.
